Action Research: Assignment Descriptions

  1. Assignment #1: Your Research Letter. This the starting point for your action reesarch study. In this letter you will explore some issues that you think you would like to investigate.

  2. Assignment #2: Your refined research proposal. This is a more formal proposal that describes your study, why this study is important, the questions you are going to investigate, the methods and any instruments that you are going to use (i.e. student tests, any surveys that you might give out), and any concerns regarding you regarding this study.

  3. Article Critique: It is important that as you begin to read other action research studies that you begin to evaluate the quality of the study. This assignment provides you with the opportunity to critically evaluate another study that has been published in a scholarly journal.

  4. Final Research Paper: This is your final report of your research. This paper should be written in a form (consistent) with APA guidelines and suitable for publication in a journal such as Educational Action Research or another similar journal.

  5. Research Presentation: This is where you can publicly share your results with all of your colleagues. We will reserve the last two classess of the term for sharing of our work.
