| Context |
The STREAMS (Students and Teachers Researching
Ecology and the Making of Science) project is a collaborative effort
between the Center for Research on Learning and Technology at Indiana
University, the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, and Hoosier River
Watch. This project enables students and teachers to share their
water ecology research experiences via a collaborative online environment.
By participating in STREAMS, a class becomes a part of a growing
online community that is centered around exploring ecology and sharing
the "Making of Science." |
| Conditions |
This project is intended
to help teachers support their students in doing water quality investigations.
To date only a few teachers, who are currently providing feedback
concerning the site, have been provided access to the website. |
| Scope |
This project is currently in its prototype
phase and only a few teachers have began to investigate how the
site can be leveraged to support their students in sharing their
water quality investigations. |
| Role |
My primary role was in helping
to conceptualize the website. I also made connections with in-service
teachers from around the state and visited their classrooms to support
them with their water quality investigations and to help them with
whatever other needs or concerns they had about streams or how to
do water quality investigations. |
