Core Assignments
During this course, I will attempt to balance our time with an element of theoretical discussions, game play analysis, and game design exploration. To the extent possible, assignments and class experience will be designed to ensure that these are balanced.
- Readings & 2 Presentations (20%)
- Produce Game (1 narrative, 1 rule set, 1 game sequence) (20%)
- Play Games (game night, minimum of 3 in depth), Presentation (10%)
- Observation Analysis (2 pages) (5%)
- Game Comparison (3 pages, plus notes, observation) (15%) (see template)
- Socratic Hours 1 & 2 (15%)
- Final (15%) 4-5 page essay on "Why Games Should (or Shouldn't) Matter to Educators"
