Course Overview (printout)
This course is designed to support you in getting as much as possible out of your apprenticeship. As such, the goal is not to assign arbitrary requirements, but to help you reflect on and ensure you have an educationally useful apprenticeship. With that goal in mind I am proposing four expectations/requirements.
- Seminar Attendance. Attend every other week to our seminar and participate in the conversations. The goal here is to have an opportunity to reflect collaboratively with your peers on your apprenticeship, and to support them in their placement.
- Personal Goal Statement. For this assignment you should write a Personal Goal Statement (2-6 pps) that covers six topics:
- Your Interests as they relate to your apprenticeship
- The underlying theory that grounds you work in this apprenticeship.
- What you hope to accomplish in this apprenticeship.
- How you will accomplish your goals.
- A reflection on how your apprenticeship went.
- Journal reflections on your apprenticeship (3-5 entries as appendix)
- Describe Research/Service Objects of Research Group (2-4 pps)
- List their objectives
- Describe how they will accomplish these
- Describe a study in which you are involved
- Co-author an article/paper/chapter/grant with members of the lab. Related to the study in which you are involved, you should be a co-author on a piece submitted to a journal, conference, book or a grant submission.
