Enter the world of listservs. Explore information about listservs, join some listservs, manage the information in the listserv.
Create a list of topics,
issues, product types, examples of classroom activities/projects, etc.
that seem to be the "hot topics" currently.
Read articles
to identify primary issues being addresses. Scan advertisements.
Identify what's new. Write up two reviews of interesting articles from
your journal.
Your Powerpoint presentation will include a review of your chosen
journal along with some interesting articles for your peers.
Turn in reviews.
You will be evaluated as follows:
Using whatever sources you
need to use, you will read and become an expert on
how listservs work and what they can be used for.
Find a comprehensive list
of listservs that focus on education and/or technology
and/or both subjects and
from that list choose two listservs to subscribe to and
complete a subscription to them.
Follow the traffic of the
listservs for approximately one week and determine which
listserv to follow for the semester.
Monitor the information on that listserv and report your findings in your
professional development Powerpoint presentation.
You will be evaluated as follows:
Choice of the listserv = 10%
Gathering and synthesizing the information on the listserv = 5
Write a 1-2 page paper describing your findings and how the listserv can
help your professional development
