ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS

| Continually throughout my courses students have
wanted a space where they could simply discuss both course-related and
non-course related topics.
This asynchronous space is intended to provide a space for just such conversations. Please feel free to talk about anything in this space. I also may post or respond to comments in this space. |
Over the course you will probably have
questions related to the functioning of the course, or to your work in
the K-12 classrooms. I have found that students learn a lot from
other students' questions. Therefore, this space will be for
the posting of course questions.
Answers will be posted by myself and by other students. Please remember that there are no stupid question except the ones that are not asked. |
This course requires motivation and self-directed learning strategies on the part of the learner (you!). The course is learner-centered and based on interactive learning activities. It is NOT teacher- centered and based on passive learning (coming to class, listening to lectures, regurgitating information on exams). As such, at the end of the second week I ask you to complete a Learning Contract to help you focus on being an active participant. | It has been said that there are two kinds
of veteran teachers, those with 1 year of expereince repeated 10 times
and those with 10 years of experience. One way to increase the likelihood
that we will continually grow as a teacher is to take the time to reflect
on what we are learning.
This assignment is intended to facilitate that process by having you post lessons you learn about good teaching throughout the semester. |
