Objectives:
A second grade class with approximately 15 - 20 students will videotape an individual or group project based on their learning experiences in exploring Native Americans. This project will vary in time length (should allow 5-15 minutes per student or group) depending on the detail of each project. The students will be able to express more of their thoughts when speaking than if they were explaining in writing. Students are preparing this video to be able to show others around them what they are leaning and experiencing. Students should be proud of their work, and feel privileged by the opportunity to present their work for others to see.
Materials:
| Completed Student Projects | Television |
| Extension Cord | VCR |
| Student Summary | VHS Tapes |
| Presentation Area | Video Recorder |
STEP 1: The students need to write a brief summary or outline about their project as far as what they did to construct, what materials they used, and why they chose this particular project.
STEP 2: Remind your students of the date for the video presentation(s) to be given and to be prepared with all of their materials.
STEP 3: The day prior to the presentations, the teacher should check with the students and verify that they are ready. The teacher will schedule times for the students to give their presentation(s).
STEP 4: The day prior to the presentations, make sure all video equipment is reserved and ready for presentation day.
STEP 5: The day of presentations have all video equipment set up, plugged in, and tested before the students arrive. Equipment needs to be flexible to move about the classroom for large projects.
STEP 6: The students should make sure they have all materials with them for their presentation.
STEP 7: The students should all gather in a centralized location around the presentation area so everyone can see and hear the student presenting.
STEP 8: The student(s) should first introduce themselves to the audience (students, teacher, parents).
STEP 9: The student should begin to explain their project and include the following:
STEP 11: After all presentations,
be sure to thank all students. The students can view their presentations
